Nutritional Support for cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration

Occular Nutrition

Your eyes... can you slow down their degeneration?

Most of us tend to take our eyesight for granted... until it starts to fail. At that time people begin to realize just how valuable good eyesight is. Thoughts turn to what it would be like not to see sunsets anymore, or gaze out on an ocean, mountains or lakes, or see the expressions on the faces of loved ones.

The common eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration affect an alarmingly high number of people as they pass the age of 40 and in the decades that follow. Some people accept failing eyesight as they get older as a foregone conclusion and as such accept the inevitability of it. Other people however are aware that the degeneration of the eyes is not 'a given' and like other degenerative diseases can be avoided.

But, as with all degenerative diseases, prevention is much easier than the cure. (Remember the age old saying 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'.)

Consider giving your body the 'tools' that it needs to prevent the constant 'wearing down' of your eyes which takes place every day. This 'wearing down' is from general environmental factors including air pollution, less than perfect diet due to essential nutrients missing in modern 'whole' foods (refer Xtend-Your-Life article 21st August 2002) and general aging.

All these factors allow free radicals to wreak havoc with sensitive membranes of your eyes, and into the eyes themselves.

So, what are these 'tools' that your eyes need?

Occular Nutrition

Very simply, the 'tools' are specific nutrients. These nutrients can be the guardians of your eyes and the membranes around them. They can effectively fight off and destroy the free radicals before they manage to destroy the cells that protect your eyes.

Although your body puts up an effective defense to these free radicals in the early years, that defense is gradually weakened particularly as you move into your 30's. From then on the defenses are gradually weakened and free radicals become more effective breaking down these defenses. In other words your body is a constant battle ground, not only in the area of your eyes but in all your other organs and body cells as well.

Remember the Alamo? Your body is no different. If you don't provide it with constant reinforcements and ammunition, it will suffer the same fate as the Alamo because it will inevitably be 'over run'. Remember also, that like the Alamo if you leave your defense too late it becomes exponentially harder to ultimately win.

The moral of this story is... just because your eyesight may be OK now, don't wait until it starts to fail before taking action. Take action now.

Email about an eye product...

The other day I had an email from a customer asking my opinion of an email that he had received from an associate of Dr Al Sears about eye health. The email was very well written but our customer thought that it was too good to be true... thus he sought my opinion. Dr Sears works with a very effective marketing publishing group and there is nothing wrong with his products. I naturally cannot speak for the quality of them or the standard of his raw ingredients as I do not know where they are manufactured. However, his formulas, although quite basic are generally quite good. However, they are very expensive for what they are.

Anyway, the email was extolling the virtues of certain nutrients for the eyes, namely Lutein, Rutin, Zeaxanthin and Bilberry. These nutrients have indeed been very successful with helping prevent various eye diseases which is the reason we use them in Total Balance. Although we have a lot of information about these nutrients under the ingredient section of Total Balance, along with references and copies of various clinical studies you may still like to read the email that I am referring to. You can access it by clicking here. You may even choose to buy the product... although I hope not because you will get much better value and similar results by getting our Total Balance.

Why? Several reasons...

First on value. Each bottle of Dr Sears product contains around 24,000mgs of active ingredients if you ignore the Vitamin C which is such a cheap Vitamin. In contrast each bottle of Total Balance contains just on 60,000mgs of active ingredients (after deducting the Vit C). A large number of the extra ingredients are actually even more expensive. The Dr Sears product costs US$26.95 plus S & H whereas Total Balance only costs US$34.95 and shipping is free for orders over $60 and you can also get 10% discount by joining our loyalty program.

Secondly, on efficacy. The eyes not only need the active ingredients referred to above but they also need a lot of other nutrients as well. They are not present in the Dr Sears formula but are in Total Balance.

Thirdly... and this still relates to efficacy. The Dr Sears formula has a 'normal' delivery system whereas Total Balance has a highly advanced delivery system which releases the active ingredients in the upper intestine rather than the stomach. This has a significant impact on the amount of active ingredients that actually get into the blood stream. I can't tell you exactly how much but some scientists believe the difference could be as much as 4 times. This means that the same amount of active ingredient in the Total Balance tablet may be equivalent to 3 - 4 times the amount of a normal tablet or capsule. If you would like more info on this delivery system click here.

Additionally, rather than just targeting the eyes, Total Balance also addresses nutrient deficiencies in all your other organs, thus eliminating the need to take a large number of different supplements. You may care to scan through the 25 pages of customer comments on our website for unsolicited feedback.

Finally, let me leave you with a couple of comments from customers about their eyes:

One question. Do you know if Total Balance helps to reduce the cause of high pressure in the eyes? I just had my yearly eye exam by my opthamologist and he said my pressure is normal. I had him double check because I didn't believe him. Since I was in third grade (more than 30 years ago) my eyes have had high pressure and the past couple of years the doctor has wanted to start me on some drops for the pressure. I have been taking two tablets a day for several months. My eye pressure is normal now and I'm not sure if it is the Total Balance or something else. I'm just glad. David.

I'm just curious... Has your product been known to help improve eyesight? My eyesight isn't any better without glasses-I still need them to see-but I realized last week that my night vision has been better. Up until a few months ago, I was cursing every time I had to drive at night, and last week I was aware I had been driving at night for some time and hadn't cursed in a while. I take the minimum dose of 3 women's caps a day, so I don't know whether or not to credit your product, but I sure don't know what ELSE I can give credit to.
